Mother, daughter found dead in Badda

Staff Reporter  :
Police arrested a man after his wife and their 10-year-old daughter were found dead in the capital’s Badda area on early Wednesday.
The incident took place at midnight of Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Mahmuda Akter Brishti, 33, and her daughter Sanja Marwa.
The couple has another nine-month-old child Sarin.

Abul Kalam Azad, Officer in Charge (OC) of Badda police station, confirmed the matter to the New Nation and said that Mahmuda’s husband Salim, 40, was detained for questioning in this connection.

Earlier, being informed, police went to Banasree Farazy Hospital around 3am on Wednesday and found Mahmuda and Sanja in an unconscious state.

They sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency department where they were declared dead at about 5:30am, he added.
Police suspect that the duo might have been strangled. The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue.

Mahmuda’s family, however, brought allegations against Salim of domestic violence and extramarital affairs.

There were ongoing conflicts between the husband and wife regarding these matters, they alleged, adding Salim strangled both of them to death.
