Rohingya man shot dead in Cox’s Bazar camp

A Rohingya man was shot to death while another was hospitalized after sustaining gunshot wounds in a refugee camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar in the early hours of Friday.

Some armed men hacked Md Redwan, 25, and Ayas, 22, with sharp weapons before firing around 10 rounds of bullets at them, APBn Additional Inspector General Syed Harunur Rashid said.

Redwan was declared dead on arrival at an area hospital, while Ayas is still undergoing treatment.

The police believed the miscreants had carried out the attack to establish dominance in the camp, the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) official said.

Ukhiya police station OC Sheikh Mohammad Ali said both local police and the APBn were working to nab the perpetrators.
