Titans of Bangladesh Football Dhaka Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club will face each other in the final of Federation Cup Football today in Cumilla. After 14 years, the traditional outfits of Bangladesh will meet each other in a gala final of Federation Cup. It may be mentioned that Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Dhaka Abahani Limited for the first time played against each other in a final of a tournament outside of Dhaka. Earlier, Dhaka Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited drew 1-1 in their prestigious match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the same venue on May 26. Dhaka Abahani Limited, which are team of big budget failed clinch Independence Cup Football and BPL Football. They want to end their title draught by winning the Federation Cup Football.
On the other hand, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are out of clinching any title for many years. After nine years, they want to clinch the title of Federation Cup Football.
Captain of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Souleyman Diabate said, ” It is a final. So, the match is different. Dhaka Abahani Limited are stronger team. So, they will be under pressure in the final. Our target is to present success to our fans.”
It is noteworthy that history and statistics all are in favour of Abahani. They clinched highest 12 times Federation Cup Football title. Besides, Dhaka Abahani Limited did not taste any loss to Mohammedan in their last twelve matches.
Interim Head Coach of Mohammedan Alfaz Ahmed guided his team very well. Mohammedan lost only one match playing last nine matches. Besides, Mohammedan are unbeaten in Federation Cup Football.
Head Coach of Dhaka Abahani Mario Lemos said, ” Alfaz inspired Mohammedan very strongly. But we don’t think about past. We want to win a trophy this season. I knew about the competition between two teams. But for the first time I get the heat of the final of the two titans.”
