Mohammedan face Dhaka Abahani in battle of Fed Cup Football final today

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face their arch rivals Dhaka Abahani Limited in their final match of the Federation Cup Football at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla today. The gala football final between the two traditional outfits of Bangladesh will start at 3.15pm. Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the arena.

After 14 years, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club reached the final of Federation Cup Football. Mohammedan met Dhaka Abahani in their last final of Fed Cup Football in 2009. Mohammedan clinched the title of that years Fed Cup Football in that year.

On the other hand, Dhaka Abahani Limited took the final berth of Fed Cup Football several times. They also won the title of the Fed Cup Football for many times.
Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club reached the final of the Federation Cup Football 2023 beating their stronger opponents and favourites Bashundhara Kings by 2-1 goals in the first semi-final at the same venue on May 9.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club cruised into the final of the Federation Cup Football 2023 defeating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by three goals to nil at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on May 16.

A total of 11 teams splitting into three groups took part in this year’s Federation Cup Football.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club, Rahmatganj MFS, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Azampur Football Club were in Group-A, Bashundhara Kings, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Fortis Club were in Group-B, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Bangladesh Police Football Club were in Group-C. Top three teams from Group-A, top three teams from Group-B, top two teams from Group-C got tickets of the quarter-finals.

Mohammedan reached the semi-final defeating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 4-1 goals in the quarter-final, while Dhaka Abahani Limited reached the semi-final edging past Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by a solitary goal in the quarter-final, Bashundhara Kings took the last four place defeating Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals in the quarter-final and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra entered the last four place beating Rahmatganj MFS by one goal to nil in the quarter-final.
