Drug addict father held for trying to kill son

Police arrested a father on Sunday for allegedly trying to kill his son by slitting his throat over a family dispute in Kishoreganj ‘s Kot-sholakia village. The arrested person is identified as Danesh Mia (56) of the same area.
Police said the victim Rabbi Mia (21)was seriously injured and sent to Kishoreganj 250-bedgeneral hospital by locals. Rabbi is an electrician.
The locals said Danesh has been involved in illegal drug trading for a long time. At one stage, he himself became addicted to drug. Danesh Mia has also married several times. Seven months ago, his son Rabbi got married. Danesh Mia tried to rape her daughter-in-law several times. The father and son have clashed several times over the issue. Rabbi Mia kept the matter secret for fear of public embarrassment.
Recently, Danesh Mia started pressuring his son Rabbi for drug money. This morning there was an altercation between the two. At one stage, he hit the Rabbi’s throat with a knife leaving him seriously injured . As the son tried to flee, the cruel father hit him in the back. Being informed, the locals rushed to the spot and rescued Rabbi. They also apprehended Danesh and handed him over to the police.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Model Police Station, Mohammad Daud, said Danesh Mia has been kept in police custody and legal action will be taken in this regard.
