Completing transmission lines, substations for RNPP stressed

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology Ministry urged the authorities concerned to complete transmission line and substation expansion works for smooth transmission of power from Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).

The 18th meeting of the Standing Committee was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban on the eighteenth instant with its chairman AFM Rahul Haque in the chair. The committee members Iqbalur Rahim, Md Habibe Millat, Md Aktaruzaman and Begum Shirin Ahmed attended the meeting, reports BSS.
The meeting was told the PGCB (Power Grid Company of Bangladesh) has undertaken six overland transmission lines and related sub-station expansion works under various packages for evacuation of power from RNPP to the national grid by December 2023.
They discussed progress of Rooppur grid connection and challenges of the 4th industrial revolution.
The Standing Committee emphasised on inclusion of blue economy and climate change in the textbooks to meet the challenges of 4th industrial revolution.
In this regard, the committee recommended to take necessary steps to include the above topics in the textbook by forming a committee consisting of experts and concerned officials of the ministry.
