MP Tonmoy meets fire affected shop-keepers in Chulkathi

Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tonmoy, MP, Bagerhat Constituency-02 (Bagerhat Sadar and Kachua Upazilas) visited Chulkathi Bazar within Khanpur Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district (on Saturday) recently, met the fire affected shop-keepers and expressed his deep sympathy to them. Later, the MP donated cash Tk.60 thousand to each of the 4 owners of the gutted shops of the Bazar. The MP also visited the village Votto-Baliadanga within the same Union and met with one Abdul Gani Shaikh of the village whose wife Safia Begum was roasted alive when his dwelling house caught fire recently, consoled him and his family members and donated a sum of cash Tk.75 thousand to them. The MP also assured Naim Shaikh, a student of Class-XI and son of late Safia Begum to bear the expenses of his education.
MP Tonmoy was accompanied by Mohammad Azizur Rahman, DC, Bagerhat, K M Ariful Islam, Police Super of Bagerhat, Sardar Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Parishad, Mosammat Rubaiya Tasnim, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Bagerhat Sadar, Shaikh Firojul Islam, Md. Shaheen, KM Azizul Islam, Mir Joyesi Ashrafi James and some other Awami League leaders.
It may be mentioned here that in the evening of May 07 Safia Begum, wife of Abdul Gani Shaikh of village Votto-Baliadang within Khanpur Union was killed when his dwelling house caught fire, originated from a burning oven in the evening of May 07 and 4 shops of Chulkathi Bazar under the same Union were burnt ashes when a big fire broke out there in the early morning of May 09.
