Dhaka Abahani Limited stormed into the final of the Federation Cup Football defeating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by three goals to nil in the second semi-final at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
Dhaka Abahani led the first half 1-0.
Dhaka Abahani’s Costa Rican recruit Daniel Colindres got a ball from his teammate Rezaul and Colindres entered the danger zone of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Colindres put his team ahead by a right-footer angular shot in the 29th minute of the match.
After the lemon-break, Dhaka Abahani’s Brazilian recruit Raphael Augusto reached the D-box after past two defenders of Sheikh Russel and then, he passed the ball to his teammate Fahim and Fahim found the net by a placing shot in the 50th minute of the game.
Fahim made it 3-0 using a pass of his teammate Raphael in the 70th minute of the match.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra got the first chance of the play. Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s Nigerian Recruit Mfon Udoh dodging past the advanced Abahani custodian Shahidul Alam Sohel but Udoh’s placing shot narrowly passed away the sidebar in the eighth minute of the match. Udoh got the ball on his way from an accurate cross of Hemanta Vincent Biswas.
After four minutes, Mfon Udoh entered the Abahani D-box but he struck the ball straightly to Abahani goalie Sohel.
Forward Fahim of Abahani Limited hit a grounder near the danger zone of Sheikh Russel but his shot went wide in the 27th minute of the clash.
Abahani’s Costa Rican recruit Daniel’s free-kick went wide in the 35th minute of the match.
In the 78th minute, Daniel Colindres got the Sheikh Russel custodian alone but his shot was bounced back from the sidebar.
Dhaka Abahani Limited will face their arch rivals Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the final at the same venue on May 30.
Earlier, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited confirmed their final berth defeating favourites Bashundhara Kings by 2-1 goals in the first semi-final on May 9.
