A Chhatra League leader named Ali Imam Khan Anu (30) surrendered to the police station after killing his wife Saima Parveen on charges of extra marital issue in Jhalkathi.
The incident took place on Monday noon in the area adjacent to the Eco Park of Sadar Upazila. According to the police, after the murder, BCL leader Ali Imam admitted responsibility and gave a status on Facebook. Then he surrendered to the police station.
Based on his information, the police recovered the body of his wife Saima Parveen alias Tanhar (19) from the Ecopark area. At that time, the knife used in the murder was found in Saima’s bag.
The deceased Saima Parveen is the daughter of one Shahadat Talukdar, a resident of Ward No. 9 of Jhalkathi Municipality. Accused Ali Imam is the son of one Dildar Hossain Khan of the same area.
Accused Imran is the vice president of District Chhatra League. According to local sources, on September 2, 2021, Ali Imam Khan Anu got married with Saima Parveen of the same area. Within three months of marriage, Saima Parveen had an extra marital affair with one of her close relatives.
When Saima Parveen’s behavior became suspicious, husband Ali Imam Anu checked her Facebook messenger. There he saw his wife’s offensive pictures and conversation with another young man. When there was an argument between them, Saima Parveen went to her father’s house. Saima Parveen even threatened to file a case against her husband Ali Imam Anu for torturing of women. As a result, Anu gets angry and plans to kill her.
He found her in the Eco Park-adjacent area of Jhalakathi Sadar on Monday and confirmed her death with a knife and shared the whole matter with multiple posts on his Facebook ID.
Accused Ali Imam is currently in police custody.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhalkathi Sadar Police Station. Nasir Uddin said that the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken against the killer husband.
