President mourns death of actor, lawmaker Farooque

President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Monday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted film actor, parliament member of Dhaka-17 and valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque.

In a condolence message, the President said the death of Farooque is an irreparable loss to the country’s film industry.
He said his films have enriched the society and culture of the country.

Farooque’s contribution to the film industry in Bangladesh will be remembered with respect for long by the country’s people, he also said.
The Head of State prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Legendary actor Farooque passed away around 8:30am on Monday while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
