Bangladesh Police Football Club stunned league leaders Bashundhara Kings by 2-1 goals in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Friday.
Bashundhara Kings led the points table gaining 40 points from 15 matches, while Police Football Club took the fifth position earning 20 points from as many matches.
Edward Morillo of Bangladesh Police Football Club put his team ahead after dodging past a Bashundhara defender and struck a spectacular shot to score the first goal for Police in the 32nd minute of the play.
After the lemon-break, Rakib of Bashundhara found the net in the 47th minute of the match.
Edward Morillo scored the match-winning goal by a left-footer in the 62nd minute of the match.
Chtittagong Abahani Limited defeated their stronger opponents Dhaka Abahani Limited by 3-2 goals at Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on the same day.
Dhaka Abahani Limited took the second position gaining 30 points from 15 matches, while Chittagong Abahani Limited took the ninth position collecting 13 points from 14 matches.
Ifeagwu Ojukwu of Chittagong Abahani Limited put his team ahead in the seventh minute of the first half.
Yousef Mohammad of Dhaka Abahani Limited equalised the margin in the 18th minute of the match.
Ekbal Hussain of Chittagong Abahani made it 2-1 in the 35th minute of the game.
Ojukwu of Chittagong Abahani increased the tally into 3-1 in the 40th minute of the clash.
