Attack on UNO in Madhukhali, car vandalised

Madhukhali Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) of Faridpur Ashikur Rahman Chowdhury was attacked. At that time, his used car was also vandalized. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon in Nishintpur Charpara area of Dumain Union of the upazila.

According to local sources, the locals were opposing the construction of the shelter project in the area. Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md Ashiqur Rahman Chowdhury attended the inauguration of shelter project construction work in Nishchintpur Charpara area of Dumain Union of Upazila on Thursday afternoon.

At that time, the locals obstructed the construction of the shelter project and at one stage locals attacked on UNO Ashikur Rahman Chowdhury with sticks. At that time, they also vandalized the government vehicle.

Chairman of Dumaine Union Parishad Asaduzzaman Tapan said, ‘I was in an arbitration meeting. After getting UNO’s mobile phone, I quickly went to the spot and tried to handle the situation.

By then the locals attacked and injured him. The car was vandalized. UNO’s nose is seen bleeding. I did not know the identity of the attackers.

In this regards, UNO Md. Ashikur Rahman Chowdhury said, ‘The work of the shelter project was inaugurated in that area.

The locals attacked me suddenly. Initially it was not possible to know the identity of the attackers. But those who were present there will recognize them. I am going to Faridpur District Commissioner office with first aid.
