Sholakia ready for country’s largest Eid Jamaat : Unprecedented security, BGB-RAB to be deployed

The country’s largest Eid Jamaat will be held at historic Sholakia ground in Kishoreganj town keeping the tradition on last 196 year, Eid Jamaat, started at Sholakia in 1827.
More than 3 lakhs people are expected to attend the largest over Eid Congregation in Muslim world at Sholakia ground.
Noted Islamic thinker, ex. acting DG of Islamic Foundation Moulana Fariduddin Masud will lead the Eid prayer at 10.00 am.
Dewan Haybet Khan, the sixth generation of the Emperor Isha Khan, the ruler of Bengal, donated 6.75 acres of land for Sholakia Eidgah.
A 4- tier security system put in place to ensure safety of the devotees.
The District Administration arranged a press briefing at Sholakia ground on Wednesday noon with DC Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.

District Magistrate (DM) in Kishoreganj Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad told the New Nation that, a total of five platoons BGB will be deployed besides RAB, APBN, plain clothes police, detectives and agencies members and 20 magistrates.
8 Fire Service Units and, five medical teams with ambulances will be standby for any emergency.
Police Super( SP) Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar) said, the entire Kishoreganj town including Sholakia maidan has been brought under a thick security blanked.
At least 64 CCTV cameras, quick response teams, bomb disposal team, and drones will be deployed to keep an eagle eye on the ground.
The special train – both named Sholakia Express, ‘ will run on Bhairab — Kishoreganj and Mymensingh – Kishoreganj routes to ensure that devotees can join the largest Eid Jamaat.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Sholakia Eidgah managing committee president Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said that, all necessary measures have been taken.
The district administration put the entire Eidgah grounds under tight security, considering the previous militant attacks. They took extreme safety measures to ensure the overall safety, though the number of devotees was fewer last time. They left no loopholes in the safety net., DC in Kishoreganj added.
The Eidgah made its name as ‘Sholakia’ after around 125,000 people attended at 1827’s Eid Congregation.
Later, a militant attack was carried out near the Eidgah grounds during an Eid Jamaat in 2016. However, the situation normalised before the pandemic.
