Depositions of witnesses in case against sacked DIG Mizan, others ends

A Dhaka court yesterday completed recording the depositions of the witnesses in the case filed against four people including sacked Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman.
On Wednesday, Judge Monjurul Islam of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka recorded the depositions of the prosecution witnesses and fixed May 14 for the next process of the case.
Yesterday, the defense lawyers cross-examined Investigation Officer of the case Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Monjur Morshed.
Of the 33 prosecution witnesses, 27 testified in the case. On the next date, the accused are supposed to address the court supporting their self-defense.
Other accused people in the case are- Mizan’s wife Sohelia Anar alias Ratna Rahman, Mizan’s younger brother Mahbubur Rahman and nephew Mahmud Hassan.
Of the accused Mizan’s wife is on the run while other two are on bail.
On June 24 of 2019, ACC Director Monjur Morshed filed the case against the four accused with ACC’s Integrated District Office (Dhaka-1).
They have been accused of illegally accumulating wealth worth Tk 3,28,68,000 and concealing the information of Tk 3,07,05,000 in the case docket.
