Legends of Rupganj thrash Prime Bank Sheikh Jamal beat Dhaka Abahani in DPL

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited beat Dhaka Abahani Limited by four wickets in their cricket match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Batting first Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a fighting total of 250 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club reached the winning target making 251 for the loss of six wickets when they had just five balls to spare.
Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club earned 16 points each from their respective nine matches. By virtue of better run rate Abahani Limited took the top spot in the points table.
Towhid Hridoy of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club notched up a marvelous 72 runs. He hit five fours and a sixer in his 77-ball innings.
Taibur Rahman of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 63 runs using 100 deliveries including four fours. He took one wicket. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Nurul Hasan of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club remained unbeaten with 20 runs.
Rakibul Hasan and Danish Azziz of Abahani captured two wickets each.
Earlier, Jaker Ali of Dhaka Abahani scored 79 runs from 119 balls including six fours.
Naeem Sheikh of Dhaka Abahani made 58 from 46 balls featuring seven fours and two sixers.
Arif Ahmed of Sheikh Jamal claimed three wickets, while Ebadot Hossain and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury bagged two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Legends of Rupganj thrashed Prime Bank Cricket Club by five wickets in the day’s other match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar.
Chasing Prime Bank Cricket Club’s paltry total of 128 off 36.2 overs, Legends of Rupganj sailed home making 129 for the loss of five wickets when they had 25.2 overs to spare. Legends of Rupganj lost three wickets for 55 runs. One-down Fardeen Hasan and third-down Irfan Sukkur repaired the damage contributing together 54 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Irfan Sukkur was trapped leg before wicket by Mahedi Hasan when Legends of Rupganj’s total was 109 for the loss of four wickets.
Fardeen Hasan was dismissed by Mahedi Hasan when Legends of Rupganj’s score was 126 for the loss of five wickets.
Fardeen Hasan notched up a superb 47. His 64-ball innings was belted with five fours and a sixer.
Irfan Sukkur hit a polished 34. His 31-ball knock was studded with six fours.
Rejaur Rahman Raja and Mahedi Hasan bagged two wickets each for 21 and 32 runs respectively.
Nasir Hossain took one wicket instead of 10 runs.
Earlier, Nasir Hossain and Yasir Ali of Prime Bank Cricket Club fought back against the tight, controlled and super bowling attack of Legends of Rupganj bowlers.
Nasir Hossain notched up a notable 31. His 50-ball innings had three fours.
Yasir Ali made 28 from 38 deliveries with two fours and a sixer.
Abdul Halim grabbed three wickets in the space of 34 runs, while Sohag Gazi and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza grabbed two wickets each instead of seven runs and 25 runs respectively.
Chirag Jani, Naeem Islam Junior and Rajibul Islam picked up one wicket each for 12, 23 and 25 runs respectively.
