SKOP demands workers’ festival allowance, arrears before Ramzan 20

The leaders of Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP), a combine of workers’ rights bodies, called on the government and the owners of mills and factories to pay their festival allowance and arrears before Ramzan 20.
They made the demand at a protest rally organised by SKOP in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday which was chaired by workers’ leader Shamim Ara.
Workers from different mills and factories across the country have been facing multiple crises
because extreme price hike of essentials, the leaders said.
Jatiya Sramik Jote (JSJ) President Sifuzzaman Badsha demanded for introduction of rationing system for the workers to facilitate their purchase of essential commodities at cheaper prices.
On the other hand, Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal (JSD) President Anwar Hossain said that the workers in the country were facing trouble to run their families due to price hike of essentials.
He called on the government and the owners of mills and factory to take steps to pay festival allowance and wages of the workers before the Ramzan 20.
Labour leaders Amirul Haque Amin, Badal Khan, Mahbubul Alam, Ahsan Habib Bulbul and others spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
