An ad hoc committee formed recently headed by Senior Advocate Mohammad Mohsin Rashid to run the SCBA instead of the committee formed by a controversial election was supposed to take the charge of the SCBA. However, the pro-Awami League lawyers took a position since the morning at the SCBA auditorium, where the ad hoc committee was supposed to take the charge.
The pro-Awami League lawyers shut all the doors of the auditorium so that the ad hoc committee cannot enter it. Then the ad hoc committee supported lawyers gathered in-front of the auditorium and chanted slogans saying ‘vote chor (vote thieves)’.
At that time the lawyers of the both sides chanted slogans against each other and hurled eggs.
Later at 2.00 pm, ad hoc committee held a press briefing at the office of the Law Reporters Forum (LRF), an organization of the reporters covering SC issues. Lawyer Mohsin Rashid said they meet with the Chief Justice and urged the Chief Justice not to recognize the SCBA committee formed through an ‘election drama’.
Member Secretary of the ad hoc committee Advocate Shah Ahmed Badol, Senior Member of the committee Advocate Gias Uddin Ahmed and others were also present at that time.

Meanwhile, the committee which was formed through an election boycotted by larger number of the lawyers, on Sunday took the charge of the SCBA for the next session, 2023-2024.
The most ‘scandalous’ election in the history of the Supreme Court Bar Association, the most influential professional organization of the country, ended on March 16 with huge violence.
The pro-government lawyers of the SCBA has held a totally one-sided election for their organization by forming an election conducting committee without due procedure. They also took strict police protection during the election.
Not only pro-BNP lawyers, non-partisan common lawyers were also not seen to cast vote in the election held in two day elections. However, the election conducting committee announced that 4137 votes were cast in two days.
Pro-BNP lawyers alleged that pro-government lawyers sealed the ballots as they wish because common lawyers were largely absent from the election.
