Astami Snan begins at Langalbandh

The two day annual Astami snan, one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community begins here on the bank of the river Bramahputra beside Dhaka-Chattagong High way at Langalbandh under Bandar Upazila in Narayanganj with due respect and solemnity.
The rituals of holy bath started from Tuesday evening at 7.05 pm and will be ended on Wednesday midnight at 3.00 am with out any break as per the date and time of Bangla calendar 1429.
The sleepy tiny village Langalbandh covering about three kilometer long area turned into a pilgrimage as tens of thousands of Hindu devotees both male,female and children from across the country and neighbouring countries like India,Nepal,Bhutan and Srilanka thronged here one day ahead of the festival and dipped into old Bramahputra river in 18 brick- built landing stairs(ghat) for remission of sins.
 Of the landing brick built stairs are Lalita sadhu ghat, Annapurna ghat, Raj ghat,Mahatma ghandi ghat,Joy kali ghat,Premtoli ghat and Rakkha kali ghat are prominent.
They arrived at the spot by buses,private cars and trucks along the Dhaka-Chittagong high way and by boat and trawler along the river Meghna and Bramahputra.
