Nat’l polls will be suspended if irregularities found: EC
News Desk :
Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana on Wednesday said that if the commission finds any reports of irregularity during the national parliament elections, it will be suspended like the Gaibandha-5 by-polls.
She said: “All necessary measures will be taken for fair elections.”
Rashida Sultana made the statement while talking to journalists at his office at the Nirbachan Bhaban.
She said:”‘Our only message is that during the national elections, voters can cast their ballots for their candidate of choice without any hindrance. We guarantee that. As we have stopped voting in the Gaibandha by-polls, we will stop voting if there are irregularities in the national elections too.”
Regarding the use of CC cameras in centres, she said: “We will use CC cameras in the five city corporation elections to be held in the coming months. Voting will be conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The decision to use CCTV cameras in national elections is still pending. I can’t say what will happen next. But we want to.”
In response to the question whether the donor organizations will take any help in the national election, the election commissioner said: “If it is like that, we have no problem taking it. But first, we need to see who they are or what they will donate.”
