Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind at a few places across the country in 24 hours.
It said that such rainy and gusty weather may take place in different areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
BMD forecast said that rain or thunder showers may continue for the next two days and temperature may rise within the next five days.
The sky will remain cloudy till Monday, it said.
The met offices also said, that the day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
A mild heat wave had been sweeping over the country for the last few days.
Meanwhile, at least 500 tourists have been stranded on Saint Martin’s Island of Cox’s Bazar after stormy weather forced authorities to suspend the movement of passenger vessels on the Teknaf- St Martin’s route.
Teknaf UNO Kamruzzaman said, that they directed the vessel operators to pause operation until the weather improves.
“We advised operators to pay back money to those who already bought tickets to go to the island in the next few days,” the UNO said.
UNO Kamruzzaman also said he directed law-enforcing agencies to make sure the tourists trapped on the island do not face any unpleasant situations.
The Cox’s Bazar region will experience light to moderate rainfall, Md Abdur Rahman, an Assistant Meteorologist at Cox’s Bazar Met Office, said.
“We haven’t issued any cautionary signals. But the weather is inclement due to seasonal changes,” the Met official said.
