Locals urge city mayor to recover an occupied road

A group of local residents has raised concerns about a road that has been occupied by a local influential figure in South Dhania Paterbag area in the Ward-61 under the South City Corporation.
The residents have been urging the city major to visit the area to take action and recover the road for public use.
“We have been living in South Dhania Paterbag area for a long time. Recently a local figure Md Kamal Fakir constructed a staircase on the 12-feet road before his 10-story building, making the road narrower by occupying the space,” Khorshed Alam, a local resident living in the same road, alleged to this correspondent on Tuesday.
As a permanent resident, Md Kamal Uddin in connivance with other locals occupied the space and intimidated others by one Md Rajib Fakir, he added.
Alam urged the city mayor to visit the area and bulldoze the staircase to free the road accessible for the people.
Among others, complainants are Md Selim Mia, Md Sagor Mia, Md Habibur Rahman Saikat, Md Amir Hossain, Md Akhtaruzzaman and Nazrul Islam.
