One gets life imprisonment in C’nawabganj drug case

A court here on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a drug trading case.
The convicted person is Md Badsha, 42, son of Md Sajjad Ali of Malbagdanga Jhatu Mondoler Tola under Charbagdanga union in the sadar upazila.
The court also fined him of Tk 10,000, in default to suffer three months more in jail.
Additional District and Session Judge Md Rabiul Islam gave this verdict in presence of the convict.
Another accused of the case Rozina Begum was acquitted as the charges brought against her were not proved. According to the prosecution story, a team of the Narcotics Control
Department conducted a raid at the house of Badsha on September 18, 2019 and
arrested Badsha’s mother Sagori Begum and his wife Rozina Begum and also recovered 1.050- kg heroin from the house.
Noticing the raid Badsha fled away.
At this Inspector Md Raihan Ahmed Khan of the Narcotics Control Department filed a case against them with the Sadar Model thana on the next day.
The investigating officer of the case and also the Assistant Director of the
department Mohammad Anisur Rahman submitted charge sheet to the court accusing the trio on November 28, 2019.
During framing the charge the name of Sagori Begum was excluded.
After hearing nine witnesses the court announced the verdict.
