DRU and Friendship jointly celebrates Int’l Women’s Day

Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and social purpose organization ‘Friendship’ on Thursday jointly celebrated the International Women’s Day 2023. A discussion meeting under the banner of ‘Challenges and possibilities of women in digital journalism’ was held in the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of the DRU.
Matia Chowdhury, MP and also the Deputy Leader of the National Parliament, attended the program as the chief guest. President of the Jatiya Press Club Farida Yasmin, Friendship founder Runa Khan and Founding Director of Bangladesh Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BWCCI) Nazma Jamaluddin were present as special guests.
Morsalin Nomani, President of the DRU presided over the program while, DRU Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel gave the inaugurating speech and DRU Women Affairs Secretary Mariam Moni Sejuti anchored the discussion.
Matia Chowdhury said, “Women have contributed significantly during the country’s calamities. It was not easy for girls to emerge and advance in our country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured women’s rights and created opportunities for women in important positions in society and the state.”
