Death sentenced husband arrested after 21 years

Ali Uddin Bagha, the fugitive who was sentenced to death for killing his wife was finally caught in RAB’s net.
The members of RAB-8 arrested him from Kandrakpur area of Rajapur Union of Bhola Sadar Police Station. Arrested Ali Uddin Bagha alias Ali Ahmed (43) is the son of deceased Ramiz Uddin Bagha of Lemua area of Hijla upazila of Barisal.
It was informed that the detained Ali Uddin Bagha is a resident of Hijla in Barishal, but he was last hiding in Kandrakpur of Ward No. 3 of Rajapur Union of Bhola Sadar Police Station.
Major Mohammad Jahangir Alam, CPSC Company Commander of RAB-8, confirmed the matter on Friday (March 3) afternoon. According to the source of the case, on March 19, 2001, Ali Uddin Bagha got married to Helena alias Rokeya. After 6-7 months of marriage, Ali Uddin Bagha killed his wife Helena by kicking her in the stomach due to a family dispute.
In this incident, the father of Helena, who died in 2002, filed a murder case as the plaintiff. In the case the court sentenced Bagha to death and arrest warrant was issued against him as the accused was absconding.
