Stolen heavy copper cables of Rampal Power Plant recovered

More than 200 kgs stolen heavy copper cables and a device for cutting coils were recover from the interior of Bangladesh-India Friendship coal based Power Plant at Rampal under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district by the members of Rampal Ansar Battalion in the early morning (at 6 am) of Thursday, according to a delayed report received here.
It is learnt from a source of Rampal Ansar Battalion that acting on secret information a contingent of the battalion conducted a raid the B-9 area in the interior of the power plant in the early morning of Thursday. But sensing their appearance the thieves managed to escape. Then the Ansars searched the area and recovered the stolen heavy copper coils weighing more than 200 kgs and a device used for cutting the coils from the area in between B-9 section and the jetty Ghat in the interior of the power plant. The present marketing price of the recovered copper coils is Tk.3 lakh. In this connection Chandan Debnathe, Commander of Ansar Battalion told, strong actions will be taken against those who are involved in stealing the national properties, He added, such action will continue in future.
The recovered stolen materials were handed over to the concerned authorities as per decision of the higher authorities of the power plant. It may be mentioned here that the members of the Ansar Battalion conducted more than 55 raids in and around of the Power Plant during the period from last May in the year 2022 to March 02, 2023 and recovered different valuable materials and machineries worth Taka more than 61 lakh and arrested 41 thieves and smugglers and they all were handed over to the police.
