Egypt authorities assured of easing process for legalising undocumented Bangladeshi migrant workers there.
Monirul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh in Egypt met in a pre-arranged meeting with the country’s Minister of Manpower Ministry, Mohammad Hasan Shahatar in his office in Cairo recently.
Counselor (Labor) Muhammad Ismail Hussain in the Bangladesh Embassy there, was present in the meeting.
In the Egypt’s side meeting was also attended by Amal Abdel Mawjud, Head of Central Administration for Foreign Relations of Ministry of Manpower, Manal Abdul Aziz, Head of Central Administration Foreign Affairs, Director General Karima Abdur Rahman and other officials.
Bangladeshi Ambassador discussed with the Egyptian minister about the heartiest and brotherly relations between the two countries.
Scope of Bangladeshi migrant workers recruitment in the North African country also discussed in the meeting.
The Egyptian minister assured the Bangladeshi diplomats that he and his country is keen to take more workers from Bangladesh.
They discussed also about the welfare of the Bangladeshi workers most of whom are working in the readymade garment factories in Cairo, Alexandria and other cities in the country.
On request from the Bangladeshi part, the Egyptian minister assured of taking initiatives of easy process of granting the applications Contd on page-2 Col-3
from the undocumented workers for accepting those to be legalised.
Sources said there were about 20,000 Bangladeshi migrant workers are now working in the Egypt.
Most of them are working in the RMG industries while several thousands of those are working in tourism and hospitality and some other sectors.
