Steps taken to improve socio-economic condition of ethnic community’

State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru has said the government has already implemented different pragmatic programs to improve the socio-economic condition of the ethnic community people of the country.
 “The government under the dynamic leadership of premier Sheikh Hasina has implemented various uplift programs to develop the socio-economic condition of the ethnic community people side by side of preserving and highlighting their cultural heritage” he said.
Khasru said these while speaking as chief guest at the Onegala festival, the biggest annual cultural festival of the Garo ethnic community was held on Birisiri Kudra Nree Gusthi cultural academy premises at Durgapur upazila under the district recently.
Local parliament member Manu Mojumder formally inaugurated the Onegala festival.
Chaired by deputy director of local government department Netrakona Zia Ahmed Sumon, the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona Zilla Parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, police super Netrakona Foaz Ahmed, chairman of Netrakona sader upazila Ataur Rahman Khan Manik, mayor of Durgapur municipality Mohammad Abdus Salam and president of Durgapur upazila Awami League Osman Gani Talukder.
