2 held with 1.6 lakh yaba tablets in Ctg

Members of Chattogram district police in a drive arrested two alleged drug traders with 1.6 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets in the Chunoti area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway under Lohagara upazila of the district early on Friday. This operation was conducted in front of the office of Chunati Forest Range Officer.
 According to Lohagara police station, through special sources, they came to know that the Yaba/arms loaded cargo was sent to Dhaka from Link Road area of Cox’s Bazar city. Based on the news, Officer-in-Charge Lohagara Thana Muhammad Atiqur Rahman along with SI Mahfuzur Rahman and the force set up a check post in front of the office of Chunti Range Forest Officer of Chunti Union on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.
At 10 pm on Thursday, February 23, when the car was near the check post, the driver stopped the car when the officer-in-charge signaled to stop the car. Then, in front of the local people present along with the officer force, the cargo car and the car driver Farid Mia and car helper Nur Hossain Sabuj were searched. During the search, the Dhaka-bound RB Cargo, Reg: No-Dhaka-Metto-T-13-0294 conducted a search operation on the empty cargo vehicle, a black scotch tape in a long box made of wood attached to the main body of the cover van in a special way on the edge of the main body behind the driver’s seat.
The detained Md. Farid Mia (25) is the son of Mohammad Nuru Uddin of Galagao village of Tarakanda police station of Mymensingh district and the other Mohammad Nur Hossain Sabuj (27) is the son of deceased Shamsul Haque of Zorarganj police station of Chittagong district.
