Int’l Mother Language Day observed

The Martyr’s Day and International Mother Language Day was celebrated with due dignity at Central Shaheed Minar in Kapasia Upazial on Tuesday .
On the occasion of the day, Upazila Parishad Chairman Adv Md. Amanat Hossain Khan, UNO AKM Golam Morshed Khan paid tribute by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar of Kapasia Government Pilot High School on Tuesday.
Upazila Awami League Acting President Adv Mazharul Islam Salim on behalf of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee Presidium Member Simin Hossain Rimi MP, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Pradhan after laying wreaths at Shaheed Minar, Kapasia Press Club, Upazila Awami League and Jatiyatabadi Dal (BNP) leaders and activists in turn. Leaders of various political parties, Reporters Unity, Upazila Scouts and various social and cultural organizations paid tribute to language martyrs. Later, after observing 1 minute silence in memory of the martyrs, prayers were held for the peace of the souls of all the martyrs.
Various programs including discussion on 21, drawing competition have been organized in various schools, colleges and educational institutions from morning to day.
Apart from this, on the initiative of the Upazila Administration, a discussion was held in the Upazila Parishad Auditorium and prayers were offered for the peace of the martyrs in all languages.
Sr.Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj reports: The nation on Tuesday recalled the supreme sacrifice of the language heroes on this day 71 years back with a fresh call for recognising Bangla as one of the UN official languages, marking the Shaheed Dibos and International Mother Language Day. In Kishoreganj, hundreds of people clad in black and white dresses especially traditional sharees and panjabees, who thronged the Central Shaheed Minar in Kishoreganj since midnight to pay their glowing tributes to language martyrs of 1952, also demanded for launching Bangla at everywhere.
The ruling Awami League (Al) leader Dr.Syeda Zakia Noon Lipi MP, DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, SP Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PMM (Bar), and Zila Parishad chairman and District Awami League president Advocate Zillur Rahman, paid their tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement by placing wreaths at Kishoreganj ‘s Central Shaheed Minar in a at one minute past zero hours while the immortal song on Amar Ekushey-“Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February”.
The ruling Awami League, BNP, JASOD, Ganatantree Party, CPB, BASOD, and many organisations have arranged various programmes marking the Amar Ekushey .
District Administration in Kishoreganj have arranged a discussion, art competition among the children, cultural function at Art Council Auditorium on Tuesday evening.
Lalpur (Natore) Correspondent says: A discussion meeting was held under the initiative of Uttaran Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad of Lalpur Upazila of Natore marking the occasion of International Mother Language and Martyrs Day on Tuesday. Abdul Kari, President of Uttaran Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad presided over the meeting. Lalpur Upazila Chairman Isaac Ali spoke as the chief guest. The special guests were the weekly Padmaprabah editor Mozammel Haque, Awami League leader Malekur Rahman, headmaster Mostafizur Rahman. Parishad General Secretary Farhad Hossain, Mansa Nandan Singh, Sanaullah Sarkar, Abbas Uddin, Osman Gani etc. spoke among others.
DC Abul Kalam Azad attended as chief guest and SP Mohammad Rasel Sheikh , PPM (Bar) , District Awami League general secretary advocate M. A Afzol and CS dr. Saiful Islam were special guests, while ADC ( General) & DS Golam Mostafa in the chair.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2023” was observed in the city as elsewhere in the country Tuesday amid paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement of 1952.
Various political parties, socio-cultural, professional and volunteerorganisations and educational institutions observed the day with a renewed pledge for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh. Since early morning, thousands of people were seen on barefooted with bunchesof flowers progressing towards the nearby Shaheed Minars especially those at Rajshahi College and Bhuban Mohan Park to pay their deep respect to the languages movement heroes with singing “Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February, Ami ki Bhulite Pari”. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district and police administration also observed the day with elaborate programmes. The programmes included placing of wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, hoisting of national flags at half-mast in all public and private buildings and mourning procession, discussion and cultural functions. Local dignitaries and high civil and police officials placed wreaths at the altar of the nearby Shaheed Minar at one minute past zero hours while large number of members of the political, socio-cultural, educational and volunteer organisations followed them.
