The death toll from Sunday’s fire at an apartment block in Gulshan-2 increased to two as another victim died on Monday morning.
Raju Mia Shikder, who sustained injuries during the fire incident, died at a hospital in the capital, said Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Abdul Ahad.
Besides, an 18-member medical board has been formed to treat the injured people who were injured during Sunday night’s fire in a residential building in Gulshan.
Dr. Samant Lal Sen, coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed the matter to the media.
The three burn patients admitted to the burn institute have been identified as Shama Rahman Sinha (37), wife of Fahim Sinha, Director of ACME Group and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director; Md Musa Sikder (33), a driver; and Rawshan Ali (30), an office assistant.
Earlier another five-member probe body has been formed over the deadly fire incident in a multistory building of Gulshan.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General (DG) Brigadier General Md Main Uddin confirmed this and said we have formed a five-member investigation committee following the end of the primary rescue operation.
The head of the investigation committee is Director (Operation and Maintenance) Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury.
After inspecting the building on Monday (February 20) afternoon, Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, the head of the fire investigation committee told the media that there was no fire safety plan in that multi-storied building which caught fire.
