World’s long route travel ship ‘Ganga Bilas’ left Chilmari Port

The world’s long route travel ship ‘Ganga Bilas’ reached at Chilmari Port in Kurigram on Wednesday. It could not be anchored at Chilmari main Port due to lack of navigability of the Brahmaputra River causes it stayed at the Brahmaputra River char.
It is learnt that the “Ganga Bilas” started from Bahadurabad Ghat towards Chilmari at 12.00 am on Wednesday. The visitors have been taken from the ship by speed boat and reached at Chilmari Port at 7.00am on Thursday. They were warmly received with flowers on behalf of district Administration, Upazila Administration and Police Administration. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rev) Uttam Kumar, chairman of Chilmari upazila parishad Rokonuzzaman Shahin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Chilmari Model thana Atikur Rahman, vice chairman Nuruzzaman Azad, woman vice chairman Asma Begum were also present among others.
The foreign visitors of the travelling ship ‘Promod Tory” visited many spots in Rangpur region from morning to evening. At the end of visit they returned and passed night in the “Ganga Bilas”.BIWTA official sources said the Promod Tory “Ganga Bilas” next started for Dhubri district of Assam province in India from Chilmari port in the morning on Friday.
Earlier the ship started from Baransi of Uttar Prodesh in India which will reached in Assam through Bangladesh where a total of 3200 kilometers river way will cross. The length of 62 meter and width 12 meter including three decks of the “Ganga Bilas”.
It has 28 luxury rooms where 27 persons of Switzerland and 01 in Germany are travelling. It will takes 51 days, BIWTA authority said.Chief Pilot of BIWTA of Doikhawa-Chilmari route told that the port authority has taken preparation of everything including protect navigability of protection route.Chilmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbubur Rahman told that the visitors of the “Ganga Bilas” have been warm received with flowers and all preparation including security measures have been taken.
