US Counselor due Dhaka on Tuesday to talk on Rohingya, IPS

US State Department Counselor Derek Chollet will arrive in Bangladesh on a two-day visit on Tuesday to talk on various bilateral issues including Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) and the Rohingya crisis.
Sources said that Chollet, the senior policy advisor to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will talk on ISP, bilateral trade and withdrawal of the sanction on Rapid Action Battalion.
On the occasion of his visit, a US advance team of USAID is now staying in Bangladesh and they are visiting the Rohingya camps to see the field level situation there.
This team will join Derek Chollet at various events with various stakeholders of the government.
The counselor may also pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.
Earlier on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Seheli Sabrin in a weekly press briefing said that Chollet’s visit will consolidate the bilateral relations between the two countries.
“The Bangladesh and US relation is the same as before. In order to cement the relationship, we are working together to resolve all the problems,” she said.
