Workshop on fish farming held at BAU

A day- long training programme on `Technology Adoption in Aquaculture Farms’ for the fish farmers was held in the Conference Room on the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology in Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) recently .
 The USAID-funded ‘Strategies for Inclusive Aquaculture Value Chain in Bangladesh project organized this trainining programme. Prof Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman Khan, Project Principle Investigator & Head, Department of Agricultural Finance and Banking of Bangladesh Agricultural University, presided over the training and Prof Dr. Lutful Hassan, Vice-Chancellor, BAU was present as the Chief Guest.
 Prof Dr. Madan Mohan Dey, Department of Agricultural Sciences, Texas State University, USA and Project PI, Dr. M. Gulam Hussain, Asia Regional Coordinator, Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish, USA, and Professor Dr. Khandaker Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, BAU were addressed as the Special Guests.
Dr. M. Mahfuzul Haque Ripon of he Department of Aquaculture,BAU has been delivered to training on “Aquaculture Systems and Instrumentation: Strategies to Increase Fish Production”. In this phase training is given on how to use new technology in fish farming and scientific method of fish production.
Besides, National Sales Manager of NAAFCO Agrovet Limited, Agriculturist Liton Chowdhury discussed various issues in light of the potential of probiotics in aquaculture for safe fish production. He shows that with the use of the right probiotics, it is possible to grow fish successfully and profitably. At the end of the training, 40 fish farmers were awarded this training.
