Highly luxurious fruits: DNCRP not to import those in Holy Ramzan

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has sent a request to the ministry of commerce for not importing the highly luxuries foreign fruits in holy Ramzan.
DNCRP said during Ramzan a group of dishonest traders have raised the daily essentials products price making artificial crisis. They want to keep fruits market stable in the upcoming Ramzan. Ahead of this they have requested not import few highly luxuries foreign fruits like Dragon, Rambutan, Avocado and Rock melon.
DNCRP said few of super shop sell mentioned foreign fruits with high rate which impact in our local fruits market. Along with the others fruits such as apple, grapes and orange rate increased.
During a view exchange programme with whole sale and retail fruits traders at DNCRP auditorium A.H.M. Shafiquzzaman Director General (DG) of DNCRP said it.
He said one and half month earlier we have sent a request to ministry of commerce for not importing the luxuries foreign fruits. We also said Department of Agricultural Extension can work on the issue that is it possible or not to product such fruits in the country.
At the same time, it has been recommended to change the existing tariff structure to discourage the import of foreign fruits, he said.
However, despite recommending stopping the import of high-priced foreign fruits, he also informed that assistance will be given to the import of five fruits, dates, malta, apples, oranges and grapes, which are necessary for Ramzan.
