Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak on Wednesday asked the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to bring all uncultivated lands under cultivations.
“I have asked the DCs to bring all uncultivated lands under cultivations,” the minister said this while talking to reporters after the fourth meeting with DCs at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
There were huge challenges to collect paddy from the crops lands during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the DCs help the farmers in this regards.
“We asked the DCs to keep such contribution every moment to increase food production in the country,” the Minister said.
He said that mastered oil production has been increased notably to fulfil the country’s need.
The Minister also said that the maize production has increased in the country.
“Earlier, one to two maund of maize were produced in each bigha of lands but now the production increased by seven to ten maunds in one bigha land,” the Minister said. He said that the agro technologies have to spread among the farmers through the DCs.
The three-day annual conference of the Deputy Commissioners started on Tuesday and will end on Thursday. There will be a total of 26 sessions in the conference, including 20 working sessions, with various ministries.
