Govt compensates 40 more people for acquiring land in Rajshahi

The government has given Taka 5.26 crore as compensation to 40 more people for acquiring their land for various development projects in the city.
The government has acquired their lands for implementation of different projects, including BSCIC Police Station Building, BKSP, RWASA, Forces Barrack, city road widening, Survey Institute Construction, Buffer Warehouse and water treatment plant.
The cheques of compensated money were distributed at a function at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) here on Thursday afternoon.
DC Abdul Jalil accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque and Land Acquisition Officer Shamsul Haque distributed the cheques.
On the occasion, Alef Ali received around Taka 1.96 crore for BKSP, Mukul Hossain got Taka 1.71 crore for BSCIC and Silvaya Rozario got Taka 1.33 crore for Airport Police Station Bhaban construction project, among others, and they were seen very happy after getting the money without any hustle and irregularities.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jalil said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing diversified projects for overall development of the country.
The government is very much positive to compensate the people whose lands are acquired for the projects timely, he added.
He urged all quarters to extend their wholehearted cooperation for successful implementation of the projects.
Earlier, 274 other affected landowners were given Taka 56.19 crore as compensation for the same purposes in seven consecutive phases.
