DITF draws huge crowd on weekend

The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2023 attracted a large number of visitors on Friday, the first weekend after the launch of the month-long event.
Visitors were seen in a hurry at the ticket counters to enter the fair premises especially at noon. But the law enforcers managed the crowd in an orderly manner.
It was seen that the BRTC bus service from Kuril to fairground carried the visitors from morning. As soon as a bus arrived, it was filled with passengers immediately especially at noon to afternoon. Even the passengers were waiting for bus tickets in front of the counter.
 The visitors mainly crowded at the pavilions of different products mainly household, crockery, wooden and plastic products, electronics, garments and fabrics, agro foods, crafts, leather goods and footwear.
Imran Gazi, a collage teacher from central road, said trade fair is a kind of rare opportunities in Dhaka that we

can find various necessary products in a single arrangement. Stalls offered discounts which also attracted the buyers.
“This year the number of stalls and product varieties are increased although the price of products bit high especially electronics items and garments products. The distance of the trade fairground from the city centre is also mentionable”.
Dipti Rani, a homemaker from Khilkhet, said that she came to the fair at the weekend to buy cookeries products for her family.
Usually new products are exhibited in the trade fair with special offers, that’s why I came with my family to do some shopping, she added.
Mustafizur Rahman, a salesman of a clothing stall, said that crowd so far at the weekend is good enough considering the early days. Though the rush is good, the number of buyers is so far not satisfactory. He is expecting the sale will rise in upcoming days.
Md Iftikher Ahmed Chowdhury, Director for DITF-2023 said that after six days of inauguration the fair, the customers are increasing day by day. The pavilion owners also expressed their satisfaction after seeing the gathering and buying interest of the people.
About security and transport Md Iftikher Ahmed Chowdhury said the surveillance management and transport system also good at service as the visitors can easily move to fair ground without any security threat.
He also expressed that this year DITF-2023 will be exceeding the last year records.
Meanwhile, the month-long DITF-2023 has started from 1 January, featured some 351 local and foreign stalls, pavilions and mini pavilions and open every day from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm while it will remain open till 10:00 pm on holidays. The entry fee for the adults have been fixed at Tk 40 while that of the minors at Tk 20.
