National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday expressed its concern over torture and realising ransom from migrant workers in the name of sending Europe.
The NHRC said in a press release that several media has published report recently about torturing the migrant workers in Lybia in the name of sending Italy or other European countries.
“It has demanded utmost and strict measures to bring out the truth behind such heinous incidents,” the NHRC said.
It said that those media reports revealed that several circles in the war-torn Libya torture and collect ransoms even killed many Europe bound migrant Bangladeshis.
Those miscreants’ circles used to torture migrant workers and take video footages and send that to their relatives’ home and realise eight to 10 lakh taka as ransoms.
The NHRC said that the captivated migrant workers are being victimised of cruel torturing abroad. Many of those are being victimis also.
“It is not acceptable,” the NHRC said.
It have not imagined that there are different dishonest circles working in the country by using those criminals are collecting the ransoms.
As such, those culprits are being beneficiary of illegal money and pushing the innocent migrants into death traps.
It is also suggested the government has to take stern measures against those culprits to keep the very important migration sector safe and vibrant.
Experts said when the country is hungry seriously to increase reserve of foreign currency in its treasury, some miscreants are trying to destroy the sector.
Stern actions should be taken against those, it said.
