Nat’l Social Service Day observed Infusing dynamism into social services stressed

The National Social Service Day was celebrated in Rangpur with discussions, distribution of awards and cultural programmes. A colorful rally circled the important roads of the city on Monday. Later Additional Divisional Commissioner Md Ibrahim Khan inaugurated the program by blowing balloons in the public library grounds. Then Shilpakala Academy Auditorium Deputy Commissioner Dr. Director of Divisional Social Services Office Abdul Mottaleb Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Metropolitan Police Abu Maruf Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Roy, Secretary of City Corporation Umme Fatima spoke as special guests in the discussion meeting presided over by Chitralekha Nazneen. Deputy Director of District Social Service Office Abdul Matin delivered the welcome speech.
At the end of the discussion, 15 officers and employees who performed their duties faithfully were awarded. After that, a wonderful cultural program was performed with the participation of the students of government children’s families.
Speakers in the discussion meeting said that the government through the Department of Social Services is working to advance the backward citizens of the society in the mainstream by introducing various allowance programs including old age allowance, widow allowance, disability allowance. Besides, the youth are being made self-reliant through various training programs. Through this department, the government is moving forward to achieve the SDGs through social security programs.
Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj adss: The National Social Service Day was observed in the country at the initiative of the Social Welfare Ministry through different programmes on Monday.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Unnayan o Sammridhir Agrajatrai, Desh Garbo Samajsebai’.
Department of Social Services including District Administration have arranged various programmes marking the day. DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad has formally inaugurates the programme at Social service complex in the town on Monday.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Saiful Islam, ADC(General) and DS Golam Mostafa were special guests, while Deputy Director Md.Kamruzzaman khan in the chair. A discussion meeting was held at Social Service VIP Conference Room on Monday noon.
It was addressed among others by Islamic Foundation Deputy Director (DD) Md. Mohashin, Ex. Unit Commander of Freedom Fighters Al- Hajj Md.Asadullah, Social worker Human Kabir, Senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, Mohila Awami League district secretary Bilkis Begum, Daily Shatabdir khantha editor Ahammad -Ullah, Krish League district general secretary Anowar Hossain Bachu and Assistant Director (AD) in Social Service Md.Shahidulla.
DC Abul Kalam Azad said that, For the massive development spree of information technology in the country, the allowances of social safety net programmes are reaching the doorsteps of the people through mobile financial services under the Government to Person (G2P) system.
Social service DD Kamruzzaman khan said the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the work of rebuilding war-torn Bangladesh began soon after independence. Bangabandhu undertook various welfare programmes giving priority to the development of the poor and helpless people and strengthening social security.
