35 tax payers honoured in Sylhet Tax Region

Tax Region in Sylhet has honored 35 taxpayers who are the highest and longest taxpayers in Sylhet Division.
The department’s highest and longest serving tax payers were felicitated in a lavish ceremony at a posh suburban hotel on Thursday (December 29).
Sylhet Tax Zone Commissioner Md. Abul Kalam Azad presided over the event. Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen as the chief guest.
He said in his speech, all the expatriates in the world will get NID card, so they don’t have to come to the country. They will get NID card while sitting abroad. He said, because the expatriates have problems with land tenure at various times, the proposal to hold a repeat tribunal has not been passed yet. After passing, many problems will be solved easily.
He also said, thinking about different benefits for the expatriates, last December 27, the minister approved to celebrate the expatriate day. This day will be celebrated on December 30 every year.
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen MP said, we cannot expect anything if we do not pay taxes. Don’t give but take, it can’t be. Looking at the developed countries of the world, we find that most of the revenue collected there comes from direct taxes. The income tax department needs to be strengthened to build a self-reliant nation by reducing dependence on foreign aid.
He also said that he emphasized on the expansion of Cornet without imposing tax burden on a handful of taxpayers. He wished the success of the tax department in building the country. He called upon the tax commission to find new taxpayers.
There is a tendency of tax evasion in all the countries of the world, but all the countries adopt new policies in collecting the tax and we also have to pay attention to it. He said that all the expatriates will get NID, so they do not have to come to the country. They will get NID card while sitting abroad. He said. He said, “I had proposed to hold a repeat tribunal because of the problems of expatriates with land and clothes. It has not been passed yet. If it is passed, many problems will be solved easily.”
He suggested that the citizens of our country should be brought under social security. Therefore, he proposed to bring all the citizens of our country who will get ID card under the tax.
Sylhet Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed PPM, Bangladesh Tax Lawyers Association Vice President Professor Md Shafiqur Rahman, Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Tahmin Ahmed, Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President were present as special guests of the event.
Mortuza Shariful Islam gave a welcome speech at the ceremony.
The special guests in their speech urged to make the tax payment system more simple and digital. The highest and longest paying taxpayers expressed their sentiments at the award ceremony. Taxpayers are greeted with lovely crests, certificates, gift boxes and flowers by the National Board of Revenue.
In the event, 4 districts of Sylhet division and 35 individuals of CSIC were awarded the best taxpayer award.
A total of 10 long-term highest tax payers have been selected from Sylhet City Corporation and Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Moulvibazar districts at the city corporation level. Besides 15 maximum 5 women, 5 youth Male taxpayers are elected. Abdul Khaliq and Dhruv Jyoti Shyam are the two long-time tax payers from CSIC, besides the top three. The tax payers are AKM Ataul Karim, Rakhal Dey, and M Nurul Haque Sohail. The highest female tax payer is Hashina Akhtar Chowdhury, the highest young male tax payer is Muhammad Shah Alam.
Md. Abdul Malik and Md. Azman Ali have been elected taxpayers from Habiganj district for a long time. The highest taxpayers are Mizanur Rahman Shamim, Md Ghulam Farooq and Alhaj Md Dulal Miah. The highest female taxpayer is Shabana Begum and the highest taxpayer in the young male category is Md Emdadul Hasan.
Dr. Md Golam Mostafa and Himanshu Acharya has been elected as a taxpayer for a long time from Sunamganj district. The highest taxpayers are Md. Atiqur Rahman, Amal Kanti Chowdhury and Md. Morshed Alam Belal. Women are the highest tax payers. Taxpayer is Dilshad Begum Chowdhury and Md. Zahirul Haque is the highest taxpayer in young male category.
Dr. Satya Ranjan Das and Sadhan Chandra Ghosh has been selected as a taxpayer for a long time from Moulvibazar district. Besides, the three highest taxpayers are Md. Muhibur Rahman, Qutub Uddin Ahmed and Jalal Ahmed. The highest tax paying woman tax payer is San Ara Chowdhury and the highest tax payer in the young male category is Md Tanveer Chowdhury.
Mohammad Alauddin Ahmed and Ali Ahmed Kulu were elected long time taxpayers from Sylhet district. Besides, the three highest taxpayers are Md Abul Kalam, Mohammad Abu Taher and Mohammad Farhad. The highest tax paying woman tax payer is Mosammat Afshana Akhtar and the highest tax payer in the young male category is Md Khairul Hasan.
Senior officials of the highest tax payers of Sylhet division and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
