Zainul Festival begins at DU

A three-day long ‘Zainul Festival’ began on the premises of Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday, marking the 108th birth anniversary of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni inaugurated the festival as the chief guest while DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Dr Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Paying deep tribute to the memory of Zainul Abedin, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said, “Artists not only create beauty but also highlights various aspects of life through their artworks.”
“Artists have made an incomparable contribution to our movement and struggle,” Minister added.
DU VC Professor Akhtaruzzaman said, “Humanity has been reflected in his art works. People will always remember him with respect for his unique contribution establishing Bangali culture, unique identity and dignity of cultural ethnicity.”
Besides, in the inauguration ceremony, DU Prof Amdadul Haque Md Mutlub Ali and Artist Shahid Kabir was awarded Zainul Award-2022 for their great contribution in arts.
