Road construction starts in Chapainawabganj

The construction of a link road from Sheikh Hasina bridge to Birshreshtha Shahid Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir bridge over the river Mohananda in Chapainawabganj was inaugurated Thursday.
Mayor of Chapainawabganj Municipality Md. Mokhleshur Rahman inaugurated the construction work as the chief guest.
A simple function was arranged on the occasion at Mirer Khailan area in the municipality with the councillor of the ward No. 11 of the municipality Md. Abdul Hye in the chair.
Project Director of the road construction project Md. Shahnur and Senior Assistant Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Ahram Ali spoke there as special guests.
Executive Engineer of Chapainawabganj Municipality Toufiqul Islam gave the welcome speech.
Besides, president of the Chapainawabganj municipality unit of Awami League Principal Abdul Jalil, secretary of the same Agriculturist Rokonuzzaman Rokon and president of Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Chatra League Dr. Saif Jaman Ananda spoke on the occasion.
It was disclosed in the function that Chapainawabganj municipality and LGED are jointly implementing the project and this link road would connect the Sheikh Hasina bridge with the Birshreshtha Shahid Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir bridge.
Out of 3.10 kilometres 906 metres road would be constructed in the first phase at a cost of Tk. 10,60,9,376, it was further disclosed.
More than 14 acres of land has been acquired in Rehaichar, Charnayanshuka and Shankerbati mouzas under the project at a cost of Tk. 70,65,86,507.
A culvert would also be constructed under this package and this package would conclude by November 3, 2023, concerned sources said.
