Bail hearing again for Rizvi, 12 others Feb 1

Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court yesterday fixed February 1 of next year to hear bail petitions submitted by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and 12 other leaders and activists in a case filed over the party men’s December 7 clash with police in Dhaka’s Nayapaltan.
They submitted their bail petitions to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday. Former BNP lawmaker Selim Reza Habib and the party Chairperson’s Personal Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas are among the accused in the case filed with Paltan Police Station.
They submitted the bail petitions after the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected their bail petitions on three consecutive dates on different reasons, said Syed Zainal Abedin Mesbah, one of their lawyers.
Judge Md Asaduzzaman fixed the date for the hearing on the petitions.
The case was filed with Paltan Model Police Station on December 8, a day after the clash broke out in front of the party’s central office in Nayapaltan area.
The clash left one person dead and several others injured.
