Aman rice harvesting starts in Ishwardi

Aman rice procurement campaign at government price from contracted millers has been officially inaugurated in two food godowns of Ishwardi in Pabna. Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, Member of Parliament of Pabna-4 Constituency, inaugurated the collection campaign organized by Upazila Administration and Food Department at Ishwardi Food Warehouse on Monday .
The programme was presided over Government Procurement Committee President and Upazila Nirbahi Officer PM Imrul Kayes.
Ishwardi Upazila Parishad Chairman Bir Mukti Jodha Naib Ali Biswas, Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mita Sarkar, Upazila Food Controller Zainal Abedin, Ishwardi LSD Warehouse Officer Mahfuz Al Asad, Muladuli CSD Warehouse Officer Bikash Chandra, Upazila Farmers League convener Fazlur Rahman Malitha, President of Rice Mill Owners Association Zulmat Haider, General Secretary Samchul Alam were present on the occasion.
Upazila Food Controller Zainal Abedin said that the number of registered millers in Ishwardi is 329. Apart from 17 auto rice mills there are 312 husking mills.
Out of this, 5 autos and 49 husking mills have been contracted. Only 16.41 percent of the millers made the deal. These millers have been allocated 3,643.5 metric tonnes. There is doubt whether the contracted millers will deliver the entire allotted rice. However, in the current season, 4 thousand 291 tons of rice, 100 tons of paddy and 4 thousand 292 tons of rice, 100 tons of paddy and rice were allocated in Muladuli CSD warehouse from farmers and millers.
