Bureaucratic lengthy procedures of giving different clearances taking lagging behind to the very important manpower export sector, stakeholders said.
The said while the neighboring Nepal, Pakistan, India, Srilanka and the Philipines are advancing in this sector for their one stop service system, Bangladesh is under threat of losing important labour markets.
“The recruiting countries as well the companies did not tolerate delaying on supplying demanded manpower. But we cannot send workers as fast as they want only due to our Bureaucratic lengthy procedures,” Noman Chowdhury, Vice-President-1 of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) told The New Nation.
He said, “As a result, we are in grave risks to loss our very important labour market abroad.”
He said that when the country has given enormous importance on increasing remittance sending more number of manpower abroad the lengthy system is keeping us far away from improvement in this sector.
When contacted, Reaz-ul-Islam, Senior Vice -President, BAIRA told The New Nation, “After giving visas, the recruiting companies want quick supply of manpower as they need it urgently. But founding us delay due to the lengthy process, they used to try manpower from our competitors like Nepal, Pakistan and Philipines.”
The BAIRA leader said such conditions really pushed us under huge threat of losing important labour markets.
The BAIRA leaders said after getting visas, they have to run to different offices one place for collecting police clearance then other places to get immigration clearances and health certificates and such many more.
They said that not only running many offices, it is really tiresome matters to collect those clearances as officials are not found friendly and cooperatives in almost all cases.
They also said that many of the clearances are not really necessary at all.
“You see, one person have a passport, that means he already got police clearance before getting it. but when that passport holder needed to go abroad for joining a job then
why he need to get police clearance further? It is annoying matter,” Rehana Perween, Sports, Recreation and Cultural Secretary of BAIRA told The New Nation.
She said if anything occurred after completing his passport that must the police to be known.
So, it must not be a matter of killing more time, but this is happening.
