Before today’s match, Bangladesh and India played 11 Test matches. Of them, India won nine Test matches, while rest of the two Test matches ended in draws. Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed will not play in the first Test due to injury.
Meanwhile, Captain of Bangladesh Test team Shakib Al Hasan and Physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board Dr Debashish Chowdhury went to hospital on Tuesday. Shakib went to hospital for an examination of X-ray.
Shakib took part in the practice session yesterday. He did batting and bowling in the net. A BCB official siad, “Shakib will play tomorrow.”
Shakib got injury when pacer Umran Malik’s bouncer hit on his back during the second ODI at the SBNCS in Dhaka on December 7. Shakib went to hospital as he had problem with the muscles.
It may be mentioned that Shakib came at the (ZACS) on Monday last but he didn’t take part in practice. He unveiled the trophy of the Test series along with Captain of India team Lokesh Rahul.
Domingo said, “We have lost some Tests but in terms of the competitive nature, I think there has been some big improvements in it. We know we are up against a really good India side in conditions that are not unfamiliar. We try to win every series. It is a home series so my expectation is for us to be competitive.”
“We want to take the game to the fifth day. Realistically we have got a chance to beat them if we play really well. We have done it for periods of time in Test series in the last year but not for long enough. We know it’s a tough series, but I expect us to push India really hard in this series,” he added.
