The ruling party Awami League (AL) asked the foreign diplomats to remain as friends and not to interfere in the internal political affairs in Bangladesh.
In the last few weeks, the USA, the UK, the UN, envoys and rapporteur are urging the government of Bangladesh to refrain from political repression on the opposition and to investigate the recent reports of violence in Dhaka.
They have also urged the government to allow the fundamental rights of assembly and demonstration which are pre-requisite for holding free, fair and participatory election scheduled to be held early next year.
Following such statements, the ruling party stalwarts and spokesman are asking the foreign envoys and international bodies not to interfere the internal affairs.
“Don’t ignore the friendship. We are friends of you despite lot of pain in the past. Still we want friendship as everyone has transaction,” AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Friday mentioning to foreign diplomats.
A preparation meeting of the reception sub-committee organized on the occasion of the party’s national convention was held at the party president’s political office in the city’s Dhanmondi.
Mentioning the foreign diplomats, Obaidul Quader said, “Many say that they should come to the election. But till today, I have not seen anyone and the election result not accepted. Election fraudulence is not held only
in Bangladesh, this is what happens in the USA also.”
People die in US election also, he said adding that they saw the scene where the bus driver died, Congress was infected and how Nancy Pelosi hides.
But foreigners talk so big, Obaidul Quader added urging foreigners not to destroy friendship.
The AL General Secretary also said that at least two incidents happened in the USA in a week and at least five to 10 people were killed in each incident.
At least 19 children were killed in the shooting despite deploying US police, but they failed to provide security in time, he added. He also said that the incident would not happen if security had been given in time.
Obaidul Quader further said with reference to the foreign ambassadors, “You (diplomats) are talking about our court, but what is happening in your countries. Everyone sees themselves first. Sheikh Hasina will not listen to anyone’s order or interference. She doesn’t fear anyone except Allah.”
The AL General Secretary said that only 19 foreign diplomats will be invited to AL’s conference. Apart from this, representatives of organizations like World Bank and United Nations will be invited.
Awami League Central Working Committee has decided to hold its 22nd national council on December 24 at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
