BCL-Jubo League demonstrated in front of BNP office

After opening the road in the capital’s Nayapaltan area, the police have taken a cautious position in front of BNP office.
Besides, BNP leaders and workers are being watched from time to time so that they cannot take a stand in this area.
But surprisingly even in such a situation, the leaders and workers of the ruling party marched through the in Nayapaltan area without any hindrance.
It was known that Paltan Thana Chhatra League and Jubo League leaders and activists were leading the processions there.
Meanwhile, while the road was blocked in Nayapaltan area, the supporters of the BNP had marched and chanted slogans at Nightingale Junction for the success of upcoming rally. Then the police chased the marchers and arrested four people form the spot. At one point, they dispersed by firing blank bullets.
Earlier, the police declared the Naya Paltan area as a ‘crime zone’ and barred all, including the newsmen, from entering the area.
The newsmen were allowed on the road in front of the BNP headquarters until around 2:00pm. Later, the police marked the area as a ‘crime zone’ and barred public movement there.
Biplab Kumar Sarkar, Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), requested the reporters, who were staying in the area since the morning, to leave the spot.
“You (journalists) will go outside after I finish speaking. We will make arrangements for you to stand outside where you feel comfortable. Our drive is not over yet,” he said while talking to reporters in the area marked as ‘crime zone’.
