BNP determines to hold rally at Nayapaltan on Dec 10

BNP will hold the rally at the pre-announced venue in Nayapaltan on December 10 and it is the government’s responsibility to make the rally peaceful.
If the government fails to maintain peace, they will bear all the responsibilities.
Police themselves carried the bombs and kept those inside the BNP’s party office.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this during a press briefing held in the party Chairperson’s Gulshan political office on Thursday.
Before it at 10:50am, Mirza Faklhrul Islam Alamgir was barred by police from going into BNP’s Nayapaltan Central Office.
Police detained over 500 BNP leaders and activists from in front of
the Nayapaltan party office, he said. Demanding exemplary punishment for all those involved in Wednesday’s barbaric and despicable incident, he said adding, “Wait, what you will see in Dhaka you will see in your own eyes. We must go to the rally ground on December 10 and the people will decide what to do.”
BNP Secretary General said, “We appeal to the government and administration to refrain from such undemocratic, anti-people and anti-constitutional activities. We are adamant about party’s decision to hold the rally in pre-announced venue Nayapaltan on December 10.”
Meanwhile, police announced the Nayapaltan area as ‘crime zone and no gathering will be allowed in the area. Police also warned that BNP will face consequences if they do not comply with the police order.
Regarding on Wednesday’s incident Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “BNP men and its affiliates gathered in front of the party office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday. Around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the police suddenly cracked down on them despite any provocation.”
“Not only the police, others like DB, SWAT and Awami League men took part in rally blocking activities,” said the BNP Secretary General.
The Awami terrorists brutally assaulted Faisal Mahbub Mizu’s father, joint convener of Wari police station Jubo Dal, after they could not find him at his residence, he said adding that the elderly man, Millat Hossain, 67, died on the spot.
“Police are down analysing the crime scene as a part of which CCTV cameras are being installed to further enhance the surveillance in areas adjacent to the BNP party office, he added.
The police official also requested journalists to leave the crime scene area immediately.
Police stopped Fakhrul when he reached Bijoynagar intersection around 10:50 am, after appearing before a Dhaka court in the morning.
Police officers told the senior BNP leader that they will not allow anyone to go into the BNP office until their necessary work is done for security reasons, as they “recovered bombs” from there.
“Police are lying. This is our office, and I will go in. It is my right to go there,” said Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Biplab Sarkar, joint commissioner (operation) of DMP headquarters, told the BNP Secretary General that BNP leaders threw cocktails at police on Wednesday in the area. BNP office is not safe and it is now “a crime zone.”
“No one is allowed to go in until our work is done,” he said. As Fakhrul Islam Alamgir got agitated, Biplab requested, “Please don’t be angry and cooperate with us.”
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir responded, “Don’t talk like political leaders. BNP office is their property and they have the right to go in it.”
