IGP hopes BNP shift its stance to hold rally in Suhrawardy Udyan instead Nayapaltan

A security plan will be taken keeping in mind everything including sabotage at the BNP rally on December 10.
Though BNP is talking about holding their rally in Nayapaltan and hope they will shift their stance and hold the rally in Suhrawardy Udyan on December 10.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said this while talking to journalists at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Saturday.
“We have yet to receive any specific information of sabotage. However, we will take security plans into all out consideration including vandalism,” he said in reply to a query.
Expressing his optimism, the IGP said, “We hope BNP will hold the rally where we have given permission. We believe and waiting as there is enough time.
When asked referring BNP’s repeated allegation that police are being used politically, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun replied, “Police perform their duties based on the law under a specific structure. We have to take training on how to perform the duties. Police perform their duties through training in the line of the law.”
Replying to another query regarding the progress of the investigation committee formed in the case of abducting militants from the Dhaka court premises, the IGP said that the matter is under investigation and detail will be placed before the media after over the investigation.
In response to another question, he said the authority concerned is looking into the complaint they (BNP men) made on Thursday last.
On behalf of BNP, on December 1, a letter was handed over to the IGP demanding to stop filling the illegal, false and baseless or fictitious cases.
